Our Mission: To provide a platform through which graduate youths can attain professional skills and relevant work experience in order to competently and confidently attain or create jobs.
Objectives of the program:
- To provide an affordable and easy to use platform through which internships and graduate trainee programs in Uganda can be managed professionally.
- To provide practical field based training and relevant work experience for student interns and graduate trainees, that is directly aligned to their education, natural competences and passion
- To equip university students and fresh graduates with the relevant professional soft skills and entrepreneurial proficiency to ease their entry into the job market.
- To popularize and promote the use of interns and graduate trainees within both public and private companies in Uganda.
Scope of the Oakwood Interns' Program
Oakwood interns' program intends to bridge the gap between the Students, Universities and the Employers. The purpose of the Oakwood Interns' program is to provide a platform through which graduate youths can attain professional soft skills and relevant work experience in order to competently and confidently enter the formal job market and self employment. The program started operating in October 2015 and each year the program’s performance will be evaluated in line with the expected outputs, and therefore guide future implementation with targeted increments in program efficiency and effectiveness.
Professional soft skills training will be scheduled and conducted ahead of each internship period as per the respective University academic programs. Training for the graduate trainees will be conducted on a needs basis ahead of each placement.
All students and fresh graduates from all courses from both public, private universities and vocational institutions are eligible to apply for training, employability profiling, and placement.
Placement to the available vacancies will be undertaken on a merit based system following the principles of non-discrimination and inclusiveness.
